Description

Check out this huge cone of  “Natural Superwash Wool” – The benefits of superwash wool yarn is that it’s been treated to make the wool fibre machine washable. The treatment process also prevents the natural fibre from felting. In other words, your finished knits will never look fuzzy or shrink, which is always a good thing.

When knitting with superwash yarns, you’ll find that they tend to be softer than non-superwash. If you find the natural fibre to be “itchy wool”, superwash might be a good solution for you.

Superwash wool tends to be shinier when dyed, specially with darker colors….. *** Hand Dyers do your own Colorways!!***

Contents: 80% Merino wool 20% Nylon

YPP: 2240

Yardage: approx. 7168  –  7250  yards per cone. approx. 3.2 – 3.4 lbs.

I’m using this yarn to learn about natural dyeing. It performs well in the dyepot and in the Circular sock machine. I knitted a pair of fingerless mitts on my CSM – Haven’t washed them yet, so I’ll post another review when I get further along in the process.

Dyes beautifully, knits smoothly, tons of knots in the cone though. I wound about 14 skeins from this cone and about half had to have a knot. Otherwise, an EXCELLENT yarn for hand dyers and machine knitters. I will absolutely buy more!

gave it a 3 only because I haven’t used it yet except to make a swatch. I wish the gauge was a little closer to my pattern so I don’t have to do all the math (in other words I would’ve liked it to be slightly thicker but I don’t want to double it)

    • MiAY (store manager)

Dear Susan, Thanks for your review – unfortunately we don’t offer this yarn in different gauges!

Beautiful and soft! Can’t wait to dye it.

I love this yarn! When you first examine, you may be concerned that it’s plied tight and seems thin. I am dyeing this myself and having tons of fun with it, and the yarn relaxes and expands when I do. You’ll definitely need to wash a gauge swatch to account for this, but the yarn is so lovely to work with after it blooms that I’d go ahead and swift + soak + dry even if I’m not dyeing. Others have commented about knots but I’ve only found perhaps 2 and I’m about halfway through the cone. Such a deal!

Very nice soft fine evenly spun yarn. It takes dye easily. It’s just what I needed for my handwoven shawls.
