What are your Shipping Costs?
How is Huntingdon Yarn Mill associated with Made in America Yarns?
Made in America Yarns is a division of Huntingdon Yarn Mill and our office is located inside of the Mill.
Can I contact you/order by phone?
Huntingdon Yarn Mill and Made in America share the phone number when calling let the office know where you would like to be transferred. At Made in America Yarns we have a very small staff but we are able to take orders over the phone. If you have any questions about placing orders, yarn information, or questions about ordering large quantities we would be happy to assist you by the phone or email. Huntingdon Yarn Mill can answer any questions about custom yarn production and dyeing.
If I send an email when can I expect a response?
Based on the level of complexity between Monday-Friday 9AM to 5PM you can expect a response almost immediately we do our best to watch incoming emails closely. Any emails received after 5PM on Friday will be answered the following Monday.
When will my order ship?
We process our orders Monday – Friday orders placed on Friday will be packed on Monday. Most orders will go out the next business day or sooner, but please allow 2-3 days for processing.
Where does my yarn ship from?
Your yarn ships from our warehouse located in Philadelphia PA.
What is your return policy?
Your satisfaction is very important to us. Your order is carefully picked and packed. Should you receive an order with an error, simply give us a call or email, and we will do our utmost to fix the problem.
With the exception of shipment errors or defective products all Sale / Clearance purchases are final sale and we do not accept returns or exchanges.
All full priced yarn purchased from the Yarn Lines section can be returned or exchanged for a full refund, not including shipping costs, within 14 days of receiving your package. We do not pay for return shipping costs. Please send us an email before sending us any returns or exchanges. email@example.com
What is the difference between being a wholesale customer and a retail customer?
Our Wholesale customers have access to purchasing our yarn lines at a wholesale price; they also receive a tailored newsletter. Our Retail customers have access to our sale / clearance section and a retail tailored newsletter.
What can I expect from your newsletter?
If you are signed up for our Retail newsletter than you are a customer, if you sign up for our wholesale newsletter this means you own a yarn shop or are a shop manager or employee.
Our retail newsletter is great for learning about upcoming sales and promotions in the online shop. We regularly send projects ideas, patterns, and information about new yarns.
Our wholesale newsletter is tailored specifically for our shop owners, and shop managers. This is a great way to learn exclusively about new yarns in production. To get information on sales and promotions for example free shipping promotions. Also free patterns and fun projects ideas for your shop!
Will my yarn come from the same dye lot?
We always fill our orders with a uniform dye lot. If the yarn is from our premium yarn lines we always stock a full dye lot. If a lot is low we can back order the yarn and fill your order when new stock arrives so that the quantity you ordered can be filled from one dye lot. If the yarn is a closeout, or is dyed in small batches, this isn’t always possible.
Can you wind my yarn for me?
Unfortunately we are unable to wind skeins, but we are able to put yarns on cone. We offer all of our yarns on cone, pricing varies.
Do you have samples or color cards of your yarn?
Yes we have color cards of our yarns available for retail purchase, and stores can order them free of cost over the phone or by email.
Can I expect the color of the yarn to be exactly the same as pictured on the website?
In our honest opinion not always, but we try to represent the color of the yarns to the best of our ability. Most of our pictures are taken with incandescent lighting to display the color as perfectly as possible. But keep in mind that colors can differ based on individual computer screens, tablets, and other mobile devices.
What are Mill Ends?
Our Mill Ends which are sold in our Sale / Clearance section are extras or left over from Huntington Yarn Mill. They are in perfect condition and there is no issue with quality they are just not available in large quantities often times we will offer only an inventory of 25 per color. Larger quantities of Mill Ends can be ordered through Huntingdon Yarn Mill. These yarns are great for weaving because they are often on cone, they can also be used for knitting or crocheting.
What is the difference between Yarn Lines and Sale / Clearance?
Our premium yarn lines are under strict quality control and occasionally a dye lot can have slight imperfections. If this is the case the yarns are then labeled as “Opps” and sold on our sale / clearance section for a sale price up to 50% off regular price. They are still made with the same premium quality yarn just with dye errors; these yarns would be perfect for projects such as blankets or pillows. Sometimes the Opps yarns have absolutely no dye errors but instead we were unable to reproduce the color so it was discontinued.
We also sell perfectly good yarns with absolutely no dye errors; these have been discontinued for various reasons. Such as our worsted weight Florafil Yarns. These are in perfect condition we discontinued this weight because it was too similar to our Florafil Bulky weight. American Lamb color Sugar Plum is a perfect yarn, this color has just been discontinued.
Why isn’t your wool Superwashed?
At Made in America Yarns we try to keep our yarns as natural as possible. Superwashing is a chemical treatment that strips the wool of its wool qualities. We also feel strongly about preserving the natural characteristics of wool fiber. We believe the alluring feel of natural wool was too good to superwash away!
How do I care for my finished projects?
We always first suggest that you hand wash and lay flat to dry all of your Made in America Yarns projects. Although Florafil can be machine washed on the delicate cycle, it is always best to hand wash because it lengthens the life of your projects and keeps them looking new longer. Use a gentle soap such as Dreft or a natural soap containing no harsh chemicals, even a mild shampoo would work. Think of your finished Made in America Yarns projects as the premium quality they are, you would never through Chanel in the washer!
